Research/Management Assistant Accountability and Deployment Department
MDRC is seeking a new Research/Management Assistant to work as part of a multidisciplinary team on current social policy issues in a dynamic and challenging environment. Assistants work under the guidance and supervision of leading researchers and managers.

Responsibilities:

The Research/Management Assistant will focus on a range of research and organizational tasks across all five of MDRC’s policy areas. The new assistant will be a member of the MDRC management team and will report directly to policy area resource managers. Responsibilities include:
  • Assist policy area resource managers with the day-to-day management and monitoring of large-scale research projects and with broader MDRC-wide management and budgeting projects (including growth estimates, project budgeting, and proposal budgeting).
  • Contribute to cross-policy area efforts to monitor staff deployment and needs.
  • Work with a team to develop, beta-test, and maintain management and information tools, including the intranet, the CRM, and the AD monitoring and budgeting tools and templates.
  • Collaborate with staff from other departments, including Human Resources, Fiscal, Legal, and Publications to meet project-specific needs.
  • Coordinate professional reports, papers, and proposals — coordinating across authors, writing, fact-checking, and documentation.
Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in public policy, sociology, psychology, or a related field; 1-2 years work experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in social policy research and management.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Comfort working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of research methods, public policy, and social programs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel)
On-the-job training is provided; salary contingent upon experience. Only candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted.
