  Barbara S. Goldman

  As Vice President for Research since 1987, Barbara Goldman is part of the management team for Work, Community, and Economic Security and oversees many of MDRC's research activities. She provides direction to staff in developing research designs, devising and implementing data collection strategies, analyzing data, and preparing reports. Goldman currently serves as project director for several major national studies, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’s Employment Retention and Advancement evaluation and MDRC’s Project on Devolution and Urban Change, and she has directed others in the past since joining MDRC in 1977. She is an author of many articles and reports on MDRC's research findings and frequently participates in briefings for government officials and policymakers. Goldman earned a B.A. in economics from Connecticut College in 1970 and a Ph.D. in economics from The American University in 1982.
