With the support of the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation, on Thursday, July 14, 2016 MDRC and the Community College Research Center (CCRC) at Columbia University hosted a free webinar, “Moving Beyond the Placement Test: Multiple Measures Assessment.” This one-hour webinar features what researchers from both organizations learned about multiple measures assessment through an exploration of college practices in four Midwestern states. Additionally, two college leaders from California and North Carolina with significant experience in developing and implementing multiple measures assessment systems share their experiences. Given that recent research indicates that the use of placement tests as the sole measure of college readiness has resulted in large numbers of students being placed into courses that are not well-matched to their needs or abilities, this webinar offers listeners alternative approaches to help better assess and place their students.
