West is an Operations Research Associate in MDRC’s Youth Development, Criminal Justice, and Employment Policy Area. She works on Building Evidence on Employment Strategies, or BEES, for which she manages operations teams as they implement key monitoring and technical assistance activities across sites. Prior to joining MDRC in 2021, West designed and implemented social service programs, provided technical assistance as part of the national End the HIV Epidemic initiative, and worked in child welfare and juvenile justice systems. She has a master’s degree in criminal justice.

April, 2023The Procedural Justice-Informed Alternatives to Contempt project integrated procedural justice (the idea of fairness in processes) into enforcement at six child support agencies. After the study ended, the agencies could determine how they wished to continue to use procedural justice principles. This brief describes how they did so.
